I think this level 65ish has been a support as well as resistance during the basing period of AMAT, this configuration will lead to upside break in my opinion, this is what I have seen from past. notice your call on the double top, I am not a great fan of double top for me I try to see the long term fundamental changes in this semi sector, for me and extended run can retrace and within a support-resistance level of a basing period which is the case of Amat WE MOVE HIGHER..FWIW... By the way I am positive on AMAT forl ong time.. and this has been one of my best performers... like CSCO.. although I have seen it sinking and touching almost 20 but it has come back and I am little positive.. on this and SOX.. I do sell SOX DOT calls only to recover premims lost on my long calls wthin a marekt correction, I try to emulate hedge fund technique, I don't get out of my long calls within a correction I try to trade the correction when market comes back up I see some decent profit, this has been helpful during this uninterrrupted bull run, we have not seen any deep correction extending over two or three months, so this kind of approach has worked.. I think any one following htis thread slowly will catch up this strategy..

Ben,

I have been noticing that as well. Look at a 5 year for the SOX. Double tops in 7-97 and 7-95????? Long term investors in semis see huge retracements of gains even though the long term trend is up. Doesn't feel like previous tops though. Thoughts?

Rich

now if Judy was around we could revive that debate of whether the semis are in a 4 or 2 year cycle...
