Maybe it has something to do with the industry consolidations taking place.

Independantly, the best independant compiler for 68k and PowerPC are probably by Diab Data, and the nicest debugger is probably SingleStep, both of which now are owned by ISI.

Motorola may be reacting to this type of activity and "protecting" its interests by acquiring a tools company before someone else (read other tools or OS company) gets in on it.

Does this support your (hypo)thesis that MOT might acquire MWAR?
