deflationary spirals are hard to beat...usually they require a war to be vanquished entirely. the question is whether a sizeable war is really a viable option in the 21st century due to the destructive capabilities of nuclear weapons. i wonder if China's crisis will turn out to be the beginning of another global shock; there seems to be a lot of complacency about China in the West. perhaps the doomsayers at PEI will turn out to be right after all...
