Mark, interesting news for IOM holders. No, I don't know
about slots, but get me a link that works and then I'll post
it on the IOM thread. That should spur some knowledgeable discussion there. :)

The link you posted produced the message 'Database Error --
Please try again. Story not found [2]' repeatedly.

Hi Mark et al,

It's been awhile since I've had the time to post, but with all these acquisition rumors flying I thought it would be a good time.

The Type III PCMCIA slot (the thickest one) is available on almost all notebook computers (and naturally Type II and I). Type II and Type I are available on most Windows CE PDA's.

I have a Calluna 1040 MB PCMCIA card that requires a Type III slot and it sure is sweet (a bit expensive too!).

Regarding the acquisitions: Luczo said it best in the CC when he said ( and I paraphrase) there would little value add in purchasing a HDD company when with pricing competition you can cause them to fold up their tents.

Translated that means why go the route of buying a Conner for $1.2 billion to obtain market share when $100 million in pricing reductions might accomplish the same end in today's climate.

Best regards,
LT
