I do recall Nikki and the Corvettes but can't recall any of their songs. I never did get to see Duran Duran nor the Cure so I can't comment on them, but I liked both of them very much at the time.

Over all I'd say most of the bands were very approachable. After seeing Joan Jett one night I asked her to kiss me on the lips and she said "as long as it's not one of those wet ones" and then kissed me, so, yes, it was a blast. The best part is the whole scene was new and fresh so many of the bands were "unspoiled". I recall after talking to the B52s backstage at a small club during their first tour I asked them if they had any buttons. They looked at each other and said "hey, that's a good idea!" BTW, they were late for the show because they were traveling by VW van and it had broken down!

Joey Ramone was one of the nicest guys I met. He was the type who would invite you to his hotel room and spend hours talking about things although he was quite shy and rarely looked you in the eye. As for the strangest band I'd say the Go Gos. I recall we booked them to play in our old wooden gymnasium and Belinda started crying (we think it was because they were booked that weekend to be on Saturday Night Live and here they were in an echo chamber)-- and we had to get her teabags to put on her eyes so the swelling went down.
