one could even argue that a post crash bear market, if it were to occur, should lead to an undershoot of the levels you mention. the 1970 barrier of Dow 1,000 comes to mind as a very strong area of support. Prechter, ever the optimist, even targets the '74 low around Dow 580. this is probably a bit too extreme though... if we continue to talk like this we'll get Dow 15,000 by the end of september just as a joke fate will play on us...
