Mark, sincerity is a desirable characteristic up to a point. The closer two people may be, the more spontaneous will be their behavior, and, of course, utterly false expression is undesirable. However, the very fact that we censor, edit, and control our social behavior, for the sake of kindness, courtesy, or even just the need to make a good impression, belies the idea that emotional openness should be urged upon people in circumstances of ordinary social intercourse.....
