Re: "Reports indicating that HP is pushing the McKinley over the Merced are "COMPLETE HOOEY" Kroeker said.

Maybe Mr. Kroeker should get together on this story with HP's own Mr. Eric Clow. At least as "complete hooey" is concerned.

Thread,

Since it has been slow here lately, I've started looking around at other places where INTC is discussed to see what kind of discussions are going on. I found this Raging Bull post and thought it was worth reposting here.

Been there - done that. I was one of the Intel shorts (puts) at 69 in late July and got creamed as Intel moved from 62 to 74 after bumping around 67-70 for a week or so.

I thought it hat topped out and I was dead wrong. I looked over the 4 upgrades on Intel during the past 4 weeks and the concensus is around 90-100. These are analysts who have examined all available data.

I swallowed my losses went long with calls at 70 1/2 and never looked back and today I am bumping 79-80. No regrets and made a huge return on lots of call contracts.

The stock is just too strong to bet against. I know because I did that and I learned the hard way. Don't bet against a proven winner. When up is up - don't look down....

By the way, I think the stock will top in the first days of October at around 92.

Robert - Re: " HP rebuts reports it will skip Merced in favor of McKinley"

That story is about as clear as mud.

Re: "Kroeker also briefly described the PA-RISC roadmap. This year, the PA-8500 will top out at 440 MHz and be replaced by the PA-8600, running at 500 to 550 MHz. Next year, just after the Merced's release, the PA-8700 will be introduced at about 700 MHz, followed by the PA-8800 in 2001, about the time the McKinley ships. While the PA-8800 should be released at about 900 MHz, the PA-8900 will break the 1-GHz barrier, reaching 1.2 GHz in 2002 or beyond, Kroeker said. "

I guess Intel will make money either way - since the HP RoadMap is all based on performance of PA-RISC chips designed for - and manufactured by - Intel wafer fabs.

Looks like a win-win from that standpoint.
