A bunch of us are still foaming at the mouth. Gotta hand it to you, this week's "bear raid" has been brutal.

Note that there are a lot of computer sales, but profits for a lot of the companies are cut to the bone.

I was helping to pick up the pieces for (of) some friends who got the ax at Quantum yesterday. Ironically, the ones laid off were feeling better than the ones remaining, as Quantum is basically eliminating OEM/Customer Support as it fights for its life. For example, the two guys who, together, were supporting Apple's line of computers, each with different types of Quantum disk drives now must *each* support two separate companies with the same number of combinations of platforms and drives.

Killing Customer Support to save money is a vicious cycle, and was Syquest's first major cost-cutting step to try to save themselves. They were bankrupt about a year later. This is what keeps the bears growling.

OT: Dell; strangely, I disagree. Dell was one of my big put winners; cf #reply-11000283 or my various exchanges with BGR earlier this year. But I'd be grateful if you and yours could run it up over 50 again. Thanks in advance, <g> -mb
