I just saw this article on the EMC thread.

In the cc on Wednesday, one of the analysts asked DW how he saw the threat of the DGN NAS product. Dan's response was that he was aware of the speculation in the press but he did not know of any NAS product announced or in development at DGN. That was an interesting response.

Of course, even if DGN has a NAS product about to go, the question will be how reliable, simple, fast will it be. There are industry standard, standards-group governed, benchmarks that answer the speed question. NTAP used to track its reliablity measures (direct from customers), and those numbers were in the 99.99+% range consistently. And that was before clustered failover.

Just becasue DGN may have a NAS product and EMC has a good sales force does not mean that they are a threat to NTAP. The devil will be in the details.
