BBC Monitoring International Reports: Sudanese Oil Ready For Export, Says President Bashir

Sudanese President Umar al-Bashir announced that oil had reached the eastern
Red Sea port of Port Sudan today 20th August. Addressing a public rally at the site
of the Shifa Pharmaceuticals Factory on the [first] anniversary of the destruction of
the factory by a US missile strike last year, the president said Sudanese oil was
now ready for export.

Foreign Delegations To Attend Celebrations Marking Exportation Of Sudanese Petroleum

Khartoum, Aug. 24 (SUNA)- Several delegations from sister and friendly countries are due to take part at the celebrations marking the exportation of the Sudanese petroleum through Bashayer Port in the Red Sea State next Monday.

SUNA learned that the Ministry of Energy and Mining received confirations from a number of countries to attend the celebrations including Egypt, Ethiopia and Chad, while other countries are expected to confirm their participation in the coming days.

It is to be recalled that the President of the Republic, Gen. Omer Al-Bashir, inaugurated on May 30 the oil pipeline, which extends to 1,610 kilometres, at Hejelij oil field.
