ynot, PHCM ran from 97 to 106 very quickly, that was definitely short covering. As for FOMC meeting, look at the Internet stocks the Monday before the meeting in June, all of a sudden the Internets started to rally on Monday. That move was traders getting out of shorts they had held for about 2 months. This time alot of people have covered last week but there still might be some out there.

Like today, imagine when you saw DITC run up early this week and then shorted it because it was overvalued. Today, the short would be diving out a window with a +17 point run.
That is why I look for stocks that have been shorted heavily and when the market improves I always buy them first because they are the first to run up. Good Luck.
