I don't think that Forbes has a very good plan. The slogan "flat tax" is only a hollow slogan. Our economic system is too complicated for a "simple" flat tax.

What would happen, if anything got off the ground (which I doubt) would be a simple flat tax plan. Then someone would add an exception to the flat tax. Then some other special interest group would add another exception. Before long the flat tax would grow into another monster.

They need to take the current tax system and simplify it, which could be done if we had someone in Washington with half a brain.

Capital gains must come from an investment held for a fairly lengthy time to qualify for tax relief. That would eliminate the day traders from the git-go. It's a big world out there. Not all investment is involved in technology....TD
