The good thing about the original "Halloween" was the resourcefulness of the heroine. I am not an afficionado of such films, but the kids tended to be passive and dopey, and so it was guaranteed that there be a slaughterfest. The Jamie Lee Curtis character had moxie!..."That Anti- Christ thing" was "The Omen" and sequels, truly creepy, not only because the boy is a monster, but because we are rooting for his adoptive father(s) to kill him....I never saw the Karen Black movie, but the way you describe it, I might have had nightmares.....
