CBSat/Divicom............................... asiansources.com Beijing Aug 13, 1999 First satellite broadcasting system in the works The new system will enable CBSat to broadcast more than 70 channels of digital TV programming to the world's largest consumer market. The mainland has chosen DiviCom Inc. a C-Cube subsidiary and one of the world's leading provider of open solutions for digital TV, to implement the first direct broadcast satellite service in the country. The firm will provide the China Broadcasting Film Television Satellite Co. Ltd. (CBSat) system, a Beijing-based subsidiary of China Central Television (CCTV), with the head-end technology needed. DiviCom will also manage the complete system integration and implementation process. The new system will enable CBSat to broadcast more than 70 channels of digital TV programming to the world's largest consumer market. The DiviCom solution will include its new MediaView MV400 high-definition encoder, MediaView MV40 encoders, DiviTrack statistical multiplexing and the Thesys Integrated Network Management Solution. According to Xie Jia Jun, president of CBSat, DiviCom was selected based on its excellent technical performance and extensive system integration experience in digital TV. Other DiviCom products include A/V encoding, data broadcast solutions, network management systems, integration and support services.
