Tunica,

Brian's post is accurate. LU/ASND is the leading vendor of ATM ACCESS equipment...this is not overall ATM WAN. You're comparing two different market segments.

Still, these reports are worthless. IDC, DataQuest, Vertical etc. are not primary researchers. They rely on data provided directly from a vendor and the numbers will reflect how a vendor decides to report and segment their own products. Multiservice devices (ATM, IP, Frame, etc..) can not be double counted and so a vendor will select the category in which they wish it to be counted.

Mr Fun will point out that CSCO (for example) reports the 3600 into carrier revenues when in fact it is an access product. If they do the same with the 3800 then the 3800 (which I believe has good revenues) will not be counted in ATM ACCESS. So, these reports are only useful if you can review them and review which products are being reported by each company relative to their product portfolio.
