Professor,
I've thought about the game console intelligence theory. I have to agree that adding some intelligence to the game console is a great idea. At the same time, it is a bad idea to add too much intelligence. You risk creating a (for lack of better words) substandard PC whose cost is unattractive to gamers.

At the same time, the PC and computer business is starting to produce more specialized PCs and computers. In the PC area, cheaper machines are designed for the Internet. Some of these machines use a TV monitor rather then a PC monitor. (A PC monitor does furnish better detail and color then a TV.) Individuals don't need a lot of features just to access the web. If a gaming company started cutting into this market, it might not be too hard for PC companies to start producing intelligent gaming machines.

At this point in time, the focus of PC companies is business sales. Producing game machines might present a business image conflict.
