MSN tried and failed a couple of yrs ago...now will be no different...AOLers want to keep their AOL accounts...that's the bottom line...wait til the numbers come out to support this fact...in 3 yrs AOL will have 50 million customers, while MSN will have 5 million, as will ATHM....The gorilla will be laughing at the little squirrel monkeys who can only dream of growing, but never will. ;)

I think it is more like ML is surprised by what Blodget says.

Anyway, free access is something that AOL will have to deal with. Historically, AOL has confronted the challenges pretty well. I think that Blodget is struggling with the impact of free access.

I happen to track selected ML research fairly closely. It's a little out-of-date now, but here is a link to my analysis of Blodget's performance as of a couple weeks ago.
