Interesting developments...

First, the most powerful graphic workstation vendor drops NT in favor of Linux (SGI). Now, Compaq, which was MSFT's only real claim to cross-platform compatabilty, has discontinued NT (http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/stories/news/0,4153,2318096,00.html) in favor of Linux and Tru64 Unix.

So, what now?
With AMD bleeding like a stuck pig, will MSFT buy them out to avoid becoming Andy Grove's bitch?
