Most are funneled through Amsterdam. The DeBeers family of South Africa (like that's a surprise) control the world's diamond market. Most are under indictment in different countries around the world and can't leave South Africa. What was amazing is that diamonds aren't rare. The DeBeers have enough for the world's use for hundreds of years but they only let a few out at a time. Any new find they buy up the rights to keep the market from being flooded.
