Offshore rig counts increase

HOUSTON: Offshore rig counts increased since last week in the
world's largest offshore drilling regions, according to Offshore Data
Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count.

In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, the offshore rig count posted a net
four-rig increase compared to last week. In addition, two new rigs
were delivered by shipyards; one will move to Mexico. With 124 of
the region's 186 mobile offshore drilling rigs now under contract, U.S.
Gulf offshore rig utilization is 66.7 percent.

The European offshore rig count posted a net two-rig increase
compared to last week. With 86 of the area's 108 mobile offshore
drilling rigs now under contract, European offshore rig utilization is
79.6 percent.

The worldwide offshore rig count stands at 462 rigs this week, a net
increase of six over last week. The 628-rig worldwide offshore
drilling fleet's utilization rate is 73.6 percent.
