I've never had an all-in-one ISP/IE icon and at present my only dialup is AltaVista, so I can't be much help with that. What you might try doing is to use Windows Dialup Networking to dial your isp rather than their proprietary software. It might be less confusing for Windows. Also, I know there's about a million tweaks you can make to DUN and one of them may fix your problem but someone like Richard or PW, or perhaps (but not likely) someone at your (pay) ISP would have to steer you on that one.

If you try the method of using Windows DUN then you would probably have to install a different version of ie so that your isp software doesn't try to access the modem -- unless there is a setting to disable that feature.

That's not too bad. Although I find the banners extremely distracting. Plus, they don't go away when you minimize your browser. Definitely not a full-time thing unless you can find a way to get rid of the banners which is why I'm looking for someone with "virtual desktop". I heard about the service from my broker who recommended them because they share the same backbone.
