I am impressed with his military record, and although I am sure he wished he could have done without the time at the Hanoi Hilton, I bet it shapes his thoughts to this day. What I do not know enough about, is his record since being in congress so long. Do you have a feel for whether he had become an insider during his long stay in congress? I think any record or action since he declared for the Repub. nomination would have to be tossed(or at least scrutinized) as it would be biased now.

McCain's not a lawyer, and I think he spent 6-7 as a P.O.W. He then pulled himself together, and has since had a distinguished career. This is a true achiever--unlike some candidates I am (temporarily) tired of mentioning.

I am not a Republican but I think Republicans are crazy not to push McCain. And I think he should make a big big big deal about being a POW. Right now that is a breath of fresh air. A guy who really made a sacrifice for his Country.
