Thanks for the congrats- although getting that grub was a mixed blessing, I had to dodge a flamethrower from another thread, yikes!

there is no effective way to measure the hybrid beast, Excite@Home Well I'd say that there has to be something done about that and soon. Those numbers have declined for two months and it gets a lot of press.

Sleeper-<in actuality, there is no effective way to measure the hybrid beast, Excite@Home.> I agree with your post. In thinking practical wisdom though we both know the true accurate measure...TIME! And it will prove an asset to valuation and appreciation indeed.

Excite is no longer a stand alone, and the real numbers off the MediaMetrix need to be coupled with the subs growth of @Home in order to fully appreciate the synergies of their union.
Eh?

As far as I can tell Excite and @home are still functionally two seperate entities. Can you give even one example of substance where excite and @home have helped one another?

A big chunk of ATHM is a narrowband portal that ATHM paid a premium price for. It was once #2 in all of the web (before AOL counted as a web site) and is now an also ran way down on the list. They have slipped behind MSN, Lycos, and Go and are dropping still. Losing customers in a world where web use is exploding is no easy task.

What did Excite not do that they should have done to keep the attention of its customers? What does it tell us of their ability to help propel @home?

Opinions wanted.
