I expect that there will be much wailing as CPQ cuts out unprofitable operations and product lines, but as a shareholder I applaud those moves. They can't cut 8000 heads and $2B in expense and still keep everyone happy. Many of the DEC operations and products were poorly thought through and poorly executed, holdovers from the weak state of the company when CPQ bought them. I think these moves are long overdue. If CPQ had done this within 6 months of the acquisition we would never have seen a losing quarter. But then we might still have EP and EM on board, so I guess it was worth it as I am much more confident in the current management.
