can transactions on the internet be profitable ? i thought about ebay...lets say i find some old magazines or something in the basement, and put it on ebay...say i get a winning bid of $ 25...ebay takes its piece out of that, i don't know how much, but it can't be a lot...i always thought businesses calculated a fairly high cost to generate an invoice..is this not relevant to ebay ? i thought about yahoo...when i look on the screen when i log in for email (free email mind you)...i see maybe one ad on the top...how much revenue could that one ad generate... i thought about amazon...if i wanted to order a board game from them, wouldn't the shipping be prohibitive and make it too expensive ? these businesses are all great ideas, but how can they make money... ebay seems to be weak with qc...i noticed that there was a story on cnbc about how a couple of people tried to auction iridium share certificates...well, don't they have qc to catch these things quicker...i think anyone can put anything they want on there, within reason and the item is deleted sometime later...gosh, the press seems to have a field day over reporting the silly things on there...i heard about a tube of shaving cream, the province of Quebec (slightly used mind you) and someones virginity being auctioned...(i think impristine reported THAT here !)...can such a company with these incidents be taken seriously ? Further, i think many of the eyeball visits reported by these net companies consist of very bored teenagers and people goofing off at work, or trapped in their cubicle...remember switching from the net to their work on a pc is only an alt-esc flip away... oh well...i guess time will tell... ike
