I agree about the connection. But I think there's a difference because of the stipulation of the question, that there are two people left. To be willing to die for an existing life, as I almost did both times, and to think that our continuation is all that important is not the same. As joan pointed out, under the circumstances something bad must have happened. That would have to be considered. And the fact that the two remaining would produce children who would have to reproduce amongst themselves. What do think of the latter consideration? It might well be that if we had reached that point through horrific acts by humanity that it might be the honorable thing to do to let us end. All the sweetness of human life aside.
