Scared,
As I understand it (and that may or may not be a correct understanding!), Sandisk collects royalties based on percentage of revenue. That is why, when prices dropped faster than they expected last year, they were hurt both by less revenue for their own cards and less royalty from their licensees.

As for your other question: "I'm wondering if Sandisk can be the Kodak/Fuji of the digital age?" (WARNING: the following material is repititious.) Well, actually, some people bought it for that very reason. But others bought it because they might not only be the Kodak/Fuji for cameras, they could be like a company that sells film for cameras, memory for cell phones, "tape" (i.e., memory) for MP3, and .... memory for any portable electronic device.

In other words, if things work out, they could in the end be even bigger than Kodak/Fuji. (Son, give that man a wide berth, there's a strange glow in his eyes and his hair is standing straight up.)
