I thought that I was bantering too, but perhaps the headache that had me awake too early led me astray....The first paragraph of your answer makes me very happy! "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!"...I agree that partisanship should not be excessive, and I would not for the world want Republicans to behave like the Clintoids defending their man against all reason and good faith. However, it is right that there should be some bias. It is the business of the opposition to make the most of dirt, we are supposed to point out the weaknesses. What would we think of a friend who did not give us the benefit of the doubt?...I would say that scrutiny is good, but participating in trashing the front- runner is not. I still hold Buchanan responsible for some of the damage done to Bush in '92, and therefore for sticking us with Clinton...Should we demand that the nominee be that pure? If he improved his life, and has kept clean for a long time, I think that is enough. Also, I do not like the idea that the other party could dictate to us by throwing mud....I think you are correct about the press, but I also think that it is there job to dig something up, not lazily badger the candidate. I was one of those, by the way, who thought that Burton ought to resign, and I appreciate his swift response to the pressure. I think that we can be the "party of values" without being sanctimonious, or pretending that there are no exigencies in life, but not when a leader is immersed in terrible scandal....By the way, remember that JLA inclines to McCain...

C2,

Just skimmed this thread to get an idea of "whats goin on"
in the great collective wisdom of SI. Although enjoying GWB,
squirming about dope.. as I do all the hypocrites in both parties.. Nobody in our great free and bold press asks the real questions..

Like about the 35 mil. GW immediately raised for his campaign and now does not have to deal with spending limits in the primarys.. Where did it come from?.. Whats the payback?? These are real issues.. NOT what some guy did or didn't claim to do, 10, 15, 25 years ago...

Hey these "type of guys" all did or STILL DO what they CAN GET AWAY with.. In both parties..

So I'm voting for Senator Bullworth.. He's a fun guy and honest TOO.. I want to party with him, his young advisors, quite pretty, I might add, also Jesse "the body", not pretty, I might add.. but TRUTH is BEAUTY.. SO JESSE is quite beautiful..

So, have at it, all you party faithful,, fiddle while Rome burns.. and watch those red herrings TOO.

the Coug..
