Well, any time you are interested in another "girlfriend," Circe is yours! Seriously, you raise an interesting question: The cats and dogs with whom I have formed real relationships with have been male--"fixed" or not--even as I have trouble getting this creature to acknowledge me as more than the food and litter clean-up squad. And your small family is all female. Do you think that they really notice the difference and do you think it makes a difference in their responses?
