These are SRAM - Static ram, it competes in a different market from RDRAM, PCXXX, VC DRAM, DDR DRAM etc. Static is used in caches for cpus, network switches, that sort of thing.

This has nothing to do with rambus.

If it were bad news for rambus, you know I'd be the first to emphasize such an opinion. I hope you feel reassured. :-)

telling me that these 7.2 Gbit/s are not comparable to the 1.6 Gbits/sec of the 800 MHz RDRAM...thanks in advance.

In addition to Dan3's answer, RDRAM is 1.6 gigaBYTES per second (GBs), which would be equivalent to 12.8 gigaBITs per second (Gbs).
