Nothing in this world is free. Look at California real estate prices. Even sunlight costs money. So AOL is not giving away ICQ and free Instant messaging. In fact it is a "value add" to its ISP service.

And MSFT will not give their ISP for free. As someone has pointed out, MSFT will initially give it away for free to crush the competition and charge us through the nose. I am sure the DOJ folks are aware of this threat and as usual MSFT is thumbing its nose at DOJ by making the threat. In my opinion the choices are very clear for the courts:

Leave MSFT to run wild and throw the US free enterprise spirit into a turmoil and we be witness ti companies like SUN, AOL, REDHAT etc. etc.
