eBay did not go down 208,000 between 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. If that is what was reported, it was an error.

As for "perceived" back door deals - they happen, and they happen a LOT on eBay, especially with more expensive items.

eBay is not getting rid of reserves - just requiring that the starting bid be more in line with reality.

In addition, in recognition that Reserve auctions often end up resulting in ZERO commission to eBay, eBay is trying to compensate for that by adding $1. Maybe they should subtract out that $1 if the reserve is met.

I would like to see eBay get much more strict with the dead-beat bidders -- they are a MAJOR problem...

The other thing eBay should do is keep an auction going if there are any new bids for 5 minutes -- and eBay should also extend auctions if the system is down for even 5 minutes...
