Buffett has been saying for years that re-insurance companies have been writing policies that made little sense. In addition, there has been a flood of reinsurance bonds. The purchasers of those bonds have no idea how hammered they are about to become. These insurance companies who will be picking up the tap will be liquidating bonds at the same time the Japanese repatriate, and foreign hot money moves to the latest hot money haven. Then the insurers are going to find many of their reinsurers who charged them the LOWEST premium will be insolvent. Let the games begin.
