I agree completely, but it was just a couple of years ago that they had the second or third highest payroll in the league and ended up dismantling the team due to 'bad chemistry' (if you subscribe to Mr. Keenans viewpoint, which I do!). Better young mistakes with effort, than overpaid floating.

Many of the players that you mention are indeed good assets now, Ronning and Irbe especially, but the fact remains that they had one good playoff run in the middle of many years of DISMAL efforts collectively when together on the Canucks.

If they are not producing what is being paid for, then they should not expect the going rate. The going rate is based on being a winner. Having talent and not giving the paying customer a good performance is a good way to find yourself on another team.

I'm a little removed from seeing any games on tv, but from what I have read, goaltending was not a problem last year. Many thought Snow was their best player on the season. Why do you say that it is a weak link?

I guess they could do what the Florida Marlins did - build a great team, then trade EVERYBODY after they win (won) the World Series. It CAN be done...
