Richard, although I've traded stocks for a while I've reached the point in life where REITs may be attractive investments. My problem is that I am really a novice in this field. I think your thread is great but a lot of what is discussed is over my head. Could you please elaborate a little more on your short term strategy? I don't think your current topic description provides enough detailed guidance to a newbie like me although it seems that it could be a somewhat lower risk investment (trading?) process. I've tried to get a handle on it by reviewing many of the older posts but I couldn't find any clear direction.

I'm considering 2 moves right now: 1) buying DOM for the August 30 dividend and tax credit (but looking at the chart, the stock price seems to drop quite a bit after it goes ex dividend so how do you win?). Or 2) buying KPA and hopefully riding it up a point or two until its dividend around September 23. If it goes up should I sell before the dividend or collect it and hope the price doesn't drop below my cost afterward?

You certainly seem to be quite an expert in this field so I would appreciate any guidance you could give me - either specifically or generically. Thanks, Bob
