Dman ESI and HemScott are I would guess the most used BB in the UK. I have just been invited to join a new BB called ADVFN(Advanced Financial Network) that is currently in Beta testing before it becomes an open board. It is designed for serious discussion. It is owned by a quoted company called On-line a small cap company that is illiquid but which should be worth tucking a few away for the future. On ESI there is very little discussion on Freeserve in fact there is more about x-stream but only because I keep the thread going. Most people over here have mentally written off their holdings in Firecrest/X-stream. The pop is around 70m. ESI is a subscription BB and the quality of the posts are much higher and more substantive than on HemScott which is a free BB. The aim is to make the ADVFN BB the premier BB in the UK and the guest posters(about 200 of us) are all prolific posters. I know as a fact that one of the posters was offered a transfer fee of œ10,000 to assist in starting a new sub only BB. However he has taken a stake in On-Line and is sticking with that one.
