Hello Rande, I am new and pretty much just lurking now. This thread has a great wealth of information, experience, and knowledge in the market. Thank you for everyone's input. I pretty much follow the Networkers and Communication industry as that is what I do for a living. I also like to play the takeover targets as this industry is in a major consolidation trend right now.

I have been responsible for the design and implementation of our Remote Access infrastructure at my company and have been contacting quite a few vendors recently for quotes on managed VPN services and broadband. AT&T is one of them, and they mentioned to me that they use NPNT (Northpoint Communication) quite a bit for the DSL and CLEC capabilities. As you know AT&T doesn't quite get along with the rest of the RBOCS (Regional Bell Operating Companies) very well.

What is your opinion on NPNT?
From Hoovers

"NorthPoint Communications Holdings helps speed the path of data from point A to point B with digital subscriber line (DSL) technology. NorthPoint installs its DSL equipment in a local telephone company's central office and leases existing copper telephone lines, through which it provides high-speed, dedicated data transmission. The company markets its services to Internet service providers (ISPs), broadband data service providers, and local and long-distance telephone companies, which resell the services, primarily to small and medium-sized businesses. NorthPoint operates in 15 US metropolitan markets. Investors include Intel, At Home, Frontier, and Verio."

Thanks,
Mark

CAMP...Rande/Kevin

California Amplifier, ISO 9001 certified, designs, markets and manufactures a broad line of microwave amplifiers, downconverters, antennas, and integrated fixed point solutions used primarily in conjunction with satellite video and terrestrial broadband applications. The Company's Satellite business unit designs and markets reception components for the worldwide DBS television market as well as consumer and commercial products for both C-band and Ku band applications. The Wireless business unit designs and markets integrated reception solutions and MultiCipher®, a proprietary broadband scrambling conditional access system, for the Wireless Cable (MMDS) industry. The Voice & Data business unit designs and markets two-way wireless solutions for voice, video, telephony, and networking applications. Micro Pulse, a consolidated 50.5% ownership investment, designs, markets and manufactures antennas for a broad range of wireless applications historically for GPS applications.

I think you should consider this one as a player. I did ask Kevin to keep an eye on CAMP few weeks ago but by that time it was not very convincing about the breakout. I sold out around 11.5 and looking for an opportunity to get back in.
