Michael, has anyone expected you to take the word play seriously? I don't take
football seriously, but I don't make antagonistic remarks about the players!

E, play all the grammar and word games you like. It doesn't interest me but it doesn't upset me. It's totally OK by me. My only antagonistic remark relating to a player of word games was made in the heat of an argument with a specific person.

The player indicated little interest in "saving" the human race and I responded by indicating little interest in dictionary fetishes. That person corrected my perception of her. I apologized immediately.

So, what does this have to do with you getting bent out of shape with me? I don't recall making any antagonistic remarks about you. Not important whether you answer but I have to wonder if someone or ones is reminding you every five seconds what a hateful person I am. Whatever the case, you now seem conditioned to take offense at about anything I say.

I'm really sorry we won't be having hot monkey sex together. It was nice of you suggest it though -- I would never have thought to mention it in a million years. What is it, anyway?

I'm also wondering why you chose to insult me (...you don't meet my standards in, oh, let me count the ways").

Is it REALLY necessary to put in a smiley every time I try to make an amusing remark? I wonder if Amazon.com has thought of offering editions with smilies and all the other little symbols. No doubt sales and reader comprehension would soar. By the way, E, did you happen to notice that my "suggestion" of a meeting was entirely SELF-deprecating?

Gotta run -- another post of yours to answer

Tragically, they don't "get" word games. They think we are playing snooty one-upsmanship, and feel somehow put-down. At least that's my take.
