Lars re contraryinvestor link.

While I would guess this person has been a bear for a while I think the his comments on what will happen to 401k investors in a downturn seem intuitively correct and scary. I know individuals who really started putting 401k money in while in their late 40's and their 50's who are piling in the max all in equities since they feel they have no choice since they started late. In a real downturn these are ones who are likely to be first to panic as the downturn turns ugly since they will see their retirement money going down the drain. In that article you posted he says something like these pre retirement or slightly earlier types are going to really do their heavy selling when we're already down 30-35% which is scary if true. I have been working on trying to convince a close relative who is in this position and has all his money in equities in a 401k to consider some action if Brinker calls a sell signal but I don't know what this person will do since he keeps saying "what about the baby boomers etc" I am sure if the market drops 30% or more he may be more receptive but by then he may turn a deaf ear to taking advantage of a bottom
