>>my guess is that technology is still too small a percentage of the whole GDP pie to make that much of a difference.<< this reminds me of the definition of paradigm paralysis. it is "a terminal disease of certainty." i'm also reminded of the saying, "it isn't what you don't know that hurts you, it is what you know that is wrong." everyone is certain that they know info tech is great for the economy that they create chained dollars in lieu of the real dollars that represent reality. this is bs. make the data fit the old paradigm instead of allowing the data to define a new paradigm. no wonder a paradigms can't get you a cup of coffee anymore. this is amateur hour in history.
