I said some months ago...Rmbs is not yet a gorilla because it hasn't crossed the chasm.....but it is close, labor pains are imminent, and the cervix should start to dilate this summer...long on rambus and hoping for a healthy birth, without defects.

I think Rambus, because of Intel's unwavering support and because Rambus architecture is apparently the only memory design that allows upscaling into Ghz range for future app requirements, will become the dominant memory standard. This standard will be found in PCs, workstations, servers, high-end printers, DVD, networking equipment, video cards, video games (Sony Playstation II; Nintendo now and Nintendo Dolphin) and so on. I think it will be a gorilla.

I will say that today, as compared to May-June, I am a bit more cautious about the time-frame. Intel's Developers Conference starts in ~ 1 week. Its Camino chipset that enables Rambus memory to communicate with Intel processors is expected to be announced there; Rambus chips are in mass production now; camino chipsets, and coppermine processors to go with them should be available in '99. Still, I think the time-frame will be stretched out an additional 6-12 months overall because some OEMs will use the PC133 SDRAM as a less costly intercedent, especially in low-end PCs.

To recapitulate, I think Rambus will be delivered, but initial labor pains remitted. Rambus is overdue, but will happen. The chasm will be crossed with widespread adoption, which won't happen til Y2K. However, you are right. Expectations of this, and all around greater awareness, should result in share price appreciation this Fall. Also, for perspective, you should know that Qcom is 50% of my portfolio of individual equities; Rambus is 15%.

PS...was in Toys R Us with our 4 year old girl, and became profoundly aware of the impact by Nintendo, Sega & Sony Playstation Video games....whole walls devoted to this. Prior to this, was completely oblivious to this market. Gave me a good feeling inside, as a Rmbs shareholder.
