Chuckles - Re: "nothing to do with Intel or AMD. These stocks have done nothing but drag down my average so far this year. "

That's because you went LONG AMD and SHORT INTEL !

Just look at how much money you would have made if you BOUGHT INTEL and SHORTED AMDog ?

Chuckles - Re: " of course AMDs gains for the next year or two would be at INTCs expense."

That's just what dUMBEREBES and Spurway and Petzinger and SCUMbria and Kash Johal and greg nus and Maxwell and mad Albert and hundreds of others have been saying for the past FIVE YEARS on this thread.

Guess what Intel has done in that time?

Your hopes for an AMD miracle are just that - better you should put your money on a few lottery tickets.

Hello Charles,
here's some good reading from PCWorld.
The link is dated, so the article will disappear, it is from the Sept99 PcWorld magazine.

www1.pcworld.com

One article discusses that the Athlon systems were priced about $200 less than Piii counterparts. That may be one straw Intel considered in cutting their prices this weekend.
