The Chinese have a very different idea about investment, return is expected to be passed on to the next generation. An example can be seen in southern California where it is common for overseas Chinese to buy a 150 k house in a 150 k area, demolish it and build a 500k house on the same lot. The idea of resale is not considered. I use this micro example to demonstrate the macro Chinese thinking . Return on capital is of minor consideration. Chinese GDP should surpass Japan in five years and the US in 10 years unless something unlikely happens like civil war.
