<<About Paul's AMD posting.

I enjoyed every piece of his AMD posts, a lot. Paul did excellent job educating people, especially new investors about the poor management of AMD.>>

I agree with you 100% here. The major problem with AMD is management. I feel that their products could have done better and the company enjoyed profitablity had there been different management. I feel their newer chips like that the Athlon will be neat and innovative products. But with poor management I think the product will only enjoy a brief moment of success.

I personally think that AMD should get out of the microprocessor business altogether. It should sell that division off. National Semi did that with Cyrix and stock took off. AMD has other profitable businesses that it could concentrate on and make more profitable.

Let's face it Intel dominates the microprocessor business. AMD should get out and stop fighting a losing battle. But management seems willling to sacrifice shareholder value just to keep the senselss fight going - that is the crux of poor management for AMD.

As for myself I have bought and shorted AMD in the past. I currently don't have a position. Actually, I don't have a position in Intel. I'm a little sore about missing the that nice recent ride up. Too busy with other stocks.

Some thoughs for the day

Steven

Xy - Re: "Without his voice here in this AMD thread, who knows how many new investors would lesson to AMD "bulls" like you and put their money into AMD shares and watch their investment do nothing or even dry up over years... "

Thank you very much.

You have made an excellent point - one that the AMDroids ignore - since they seem to want to SUCK IN new losers (translation - AMD investors) to keep them company.

AMD's stock certificates should have a Warning Label attached to them:

CAUTION - OWNERSHIP OF THESE AMD SHARES MAY BE VERY DAMAGING TO YOUR FINACIAL HEALTH

Paul

xz, I explain it to you. How does one co outperform yr after yr. its simple Intel cheats. Here is how they do it. Intel takes profits from the high end chip sales and uses them to subsidize low end chip sales. If you look at Intels productline/pricing stratgedy from top to bottom performance differers by about 50%. So rationaly if $50 is the bottom price then the top selling chip should go for somewhere around$100. to $120.00. but if you look at Intels pricing there top chips sell for around$500. to $600. a ten to twelve times differential. By doing so Intle reaps monoplistic proifts amounting to Billions of Dollars. Intel then uses a portion of the monoply profits to subsidize chipsales to undersell their now only competitor AMD in an attempt to force them to be unprofitable eventualy drive them out of business. This practice is known as preditory pricing. In addition Intel has historicaly demonstrated other unfari practices in the past. Such as claiming intellectul property rights where they had none. Withholding liscencing of technology predicated on the company doing business with Intels competitor. Using its monoply profits to buy up competing technology. In short they have not been good corporate citizens. Now lets look at AMD. AMd greatest acheivment to date has been accomplished, through the competitive processs, is soly responsible for producing the greatest cost savings in consumer computer equipment in history of personal computing. In Short without AMd everyone would be paying much bigger bucks for there boxes. Further the Tech revoultion would be nowhere as advanced as it is today. In short in unfair competition situation promugated by Intel AMD's market share for the comsumer segment went from 10%to 50% without the benifit of earning one $ of profit. Short and Simple it is not in the National security interest of the United States to have one company Intel making all the CPU'S. Unfortunatly AMd has done a Poor job of bring the issue to the attention of US Congress. Netscape did a much better job when Microsoft screwed with Netscape. Sanders should be screaming bloddy murder. If i were AMD public relations manager I would have Sanders publish a full page letter to congress in the Wash post pointed out Intels poor behavoir. In short AMd gets screwed out of profits by Intel. Gets little or no credit for the tremendous cost savings consumers have benifited by. Gets little support from the industry as the only oppisition between a competive market and monolopy for CPU chips. Gets ignored by the lawmakers and law inforcers. Such is life. Long live AMD. Perhaps this post may serve to demonstrate to the Intel guys an understand as to why we, or rather (I) perfer AMd as an investment.
