I'll make note of that 3-word phrase ("don't call list")... sounds like a good approach. In the past, I've had trouble "stopping" many of these guys, usually in order to get them stopped it has to escalate into a shouting match, nowadays. They have become incredibly pushy and aggressive with their "victims". So, I've come to a quick, effective technique where I stop them with an emphatic "I MUST have your number - really want to call you back". I've yet to find one that will give me a real phone number. However, it's also reduced the number of repeat calls and harassment, greatly.

What I'd really like to do, is stop them and ask them to listen to a breif tape-recorded message, in which I would expound on and on but of course never listen or respond to what they're saying (because they'd be listening to a recording). I've been tempted to set up a cassette recorder for these guys, just for that purpose. Then, they could experience the same treatment their callees get!
