Re: lots of history on Intel product line and the competition etc etc.

Dan, in true AMD fashion, you seem unable to distinguish between a good design and a good product. At the time IBM chose the 8088 the 68000 was a better design however there were serious concerns about availability and support. You seem to be bedazzled today by the design hype and don't have a clue about the product side. Designs don't sell, products do and so far, despite all the hype, promises, introductions, re-introductions, re-re-introductions, etas and AMD euphoria, the Athlon is still, for all intents and purposes, Missing In Action. We even have AMD fans boasting here that they have actually SEEN one!

Re: "Intel has a far greater resource base this time and will do moderately well even if they run into some real trouble. But this is looking like strikeout number 3 coming up for the Intel microprocessor business."

Each batter gets 3 strikes and each inning gets 3 outs. They don't carry. You missed all the homeruns in between. The only way for AMD to get on base is if Jerry gets hit in the head.
