The chip is a dud. You can have your opinion base on current simulation. And, even if Merced does not sell in volume, would you call Pentium Pro a dud too because it did not sell in volume? This is a vastly new architecture that create a new market for Intel. It introduce new instruction set which many software will be ported. I hope your bearishness in Intel does not cloud your view in that aspect. In addition, I am sure that Intel will more than make up that 10-15% in performance in the future proliferations like how PPro evolved to PII and PIII. (This is also the answer to the other post I got from ThomasM). Tim JMHO
