Thread,

I had some assignments on Compaq puts and now I own some Compaq. I am planning on turning around and writing covered calls and debating if I should sell September 25s or 27.5s or 30s. Could anyone offer any thoughts on any upcoming events that could cause a significant pop before September options expiration time?

Thanks,
Chuck

This is confused. On the high-end alphas, alpha 32-bit NT with alpha applications can run rings around the high-end x86 systems with x86 applications. There's no "translation" involved on either system.

Granted, they would be even faster if they were 64-bit versions, but it does not measurably slow the Alpha chip down to run a 32-bit OS.

The author is confusing native alpha applications with the slowdown you do get running x86 applications on alpha NT under "translation". This is probably the Digital FX!32 emulation software.
