Those traders are risking their own capital in most cases. Yes they execute customer orders but they also trade for the house account and the bonus is based on how they do with the house money. CNBC is watched by every trader and specialist so they can know what the hell is going on at any point in time. If FNN was so damn great it would still be own. For you bozos that are looking for entertainment go find a John Wayne movie on the TCM channel. I am watching for news and events that drive a stock price up or down. I am not here for enjoyment. The people at CNBC do a fantastic job when you realize that this is all live and they have to do a quick study on rapidly changing events. The job is to report the news, not try to "make" the news.

I have never seen so many whinners congregate on one board. I don't think ya'll could compose a comprehensive sentence if you had a week head start and a new Big Chief tablet. Jeez, guys get a life.

Your post on traders is interesting and I agree with some of it. To get a complete picture of stock movement, however, it is informative to learn what the traders are thinking at a given point in time.
Your point that institutional money managers are the ones who MOVE the market is well taken.
It may be a bit overstated though to say that specialists are "morons" or "robots". I doubt seriously that Linda Jay would like to be known as either of those terms.
